Tropical Depression to hit Texas by Sunday

For those who live in the Upper Texas Coast, be careful! The National Hurricane Center issued a report early this morning claiming a tropical storm will form in the next 48 hours. The severity of the storm is unknown at this point. However, the predicted track of this storm is indicated to travel into much of Louisiana and eastern Texas. Regardless of the actual track of the storm, rainfall is expected in Florida and East Texas early Saturday through Monday. We urge everyone to be extremely careful this week. Do not take any unnecessary risks while traveling.

Legal Issues:

Given the circumstances, It seems proper to remind everyone of the importance of flood insurance. Regular homeowners insurance does not cover flood damages. We recommend you protect yourself and your home with flood insurance. If you’re in a high-risk area, don’t worry! The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is a fund to make flood insurance more affordable to people in high-risk areas. While one may think that because this is a federal program, it is worry-free. They would be wrong. There are so many missteps and technicalities that can allow insurance providers to deny your claim. If this is the case, be sure to contact someone with experience in dealing with bad faith insurance. Do not let the insurance companies take you for a ride! Getting the money that is owed to you should be your attorney’s top priority. Be sure to check out our page on bad faith insurance here.
