In Wisconsin and Illinois, 14 teens and young adults have been hospitalized for breathing problems. Officials believe these problems are linked to vaping. These reports were announced Friday by both state’s health departments. These young people are suffering from lung disease and some even need assistance to breathe. These teens and young adults have had no prior health issues, but now are being placed in intensive care and ventilators due to the dangers of vaping. The patients are slowly recovering, but it’s hard to say what the long term effects will be.

In reports published by them, the organizations show research that shows vape ingredients may contain dangerous chemicals that cause lung and heart disease. According to the American Vaping Association, there is no data showing that vaping products are causing these issues. The association is pointing at street-bought THC vaping cartridges for being the cause of hospitalizations. According to Wisconsin news reports, some of these teens admitted to buying THC oil on the street before having these breathing issues.
