After walking back home from a night out with friends, Jeffrey Seo found himself in the hospital for over 2 weeks. Unfortunately, Mr. Seo was hit by a bus while walking down a crosswalk when an Academy Bus Line Bus turned in Seo’s direction. Ramon E. Tejada, who was driving the bus, hit Seo and pinned him under the bus. Then, Mr. Seo was dragged for over 100 feet, according to the police report. He suffered from fractured bones, subdural hematomas, and a traumatic brain injury.
Seo was working as a waiter and did not know any English. He only spoke Korean and was pursuing a career in graphic design. After the accident, he was able to get a job in graphic design at a fashion company. However, due to this brain injury, he was unable to focus. He lost his job and had difficulties keeping any jobs after. The brain injury made it difficult for him to focus on anything. While some of his physical injuries healed, Seo will probably never be the same person he once was.
This unfortunate accident happened back in 2015 and was finally settled last week. Seo was awarded $2.5 million in a settlement with Academy Bus lines.
