White Castle Listeria Recall

white castle

Earlier today, White Castle announced a recall for their frozen 6 and 16 pack cheeseburgers, hamburgers, and jalapeno cheeseburgers over the possible presence of Listeria. According to a statement released by the company, this recall will affect products with best-by dates ranging from August 4, 2020, to August 17, 2020. So far, there have been no reports of illness associated with any White Castle products. The company regularly tests its products for quality assurance. This possible contamination was found by a third-party lab hired by White Castle to conduct the tests and halted the shipping of any of these products to customers after a sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenesis can cause serious, sometimes even fatal infections for the elderly, children, or those with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals usually experience fevers, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and stiffness of the joints. If you happen to have one of the products from the recall, it is recommended you throw the product away, or return it to the store for a full refund. A more detailed list of the affected products can be found here.
