For the past few months, the news has been flooded with stories about young teens and adults developing serious illnesses from vaping. Up until now, it was unknown what exactly was causing these issues. People have been hospitalized for serious problems breathing, and one person was put into a medically induced coma because of his severe condition. Now State and federal health officials think they found the cause. In samples of marijuana vaping products, they have found vitamin E. To be more exact, one of the main chemicals in this THC oil is an oil derived from vitamin E.
They found this vitamin E oil in samples of cannabis products collected from patients suffering from lung issues due to vaping. Vitamin E has been found in nearly all of the samples collected from patients. So far, this is the only common element found in all the samples from throughout the country. Now vitamin E is not known to be harmful. In fact, you see its pretty common. It’s in olive oil, almonds, canola oil, and more. However, we don’t know the effects of vitamin E when inhaled. Normally we come into contact with this vitamin in our food or in topical creams. Officials warn that it’s too early to come to any conclusions, but it is certainly an interesting development.
