Cop Sues Weed Company for Vaping Injury

This Monday, the first personal injury vaping suit in Washington state was filed. According to the complaint, a police officer is accusing the American distributor of his Chinese vape pen, along with 6 other cannabis companies of knowingly selling a defective product. According to him, their products sent him to the hospital with serious lung injuries. Officer Charles Wilcoxen, age 44 says the sellers and manufacturers of THC pods he used caused him to contract lipoid pneumonia. This lung injury has been common among those harmed from vaping. Wilcoxen is also calling for the FDA to step up, and ban these products until proven safe.

According to his complaint, Wilcoxen used THC vape pods, THC is a psychoactive substance found in marijuana. He was using it to help him sleep, pain relief and to destress. He started using the product on January 2018, soon after marijuana became legal in the state. So far, several states have issued executive orders to ban the sale of cannabis and tobacco vape products. Washington is not one of them. All of the defendants in the case are companies incorporated in Washington state. Wilcoxen’s vape pen is said to be made by CCell, however, they were not named in the suit.
