On Friday August 2, 2019, a man driving a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Interstate 35 rear-ended a car. According to police, this is after failing to stop when the traffic ahead of him was slowing down. Police say Martel Tamar Sanders, the man riding the motorcycle was then flung into moving traffic. A medical student and an off-duty firefighter try to assist the 41-year old and performed CPR. From there, he was taken to Ascension Seton Medical Center Hays in Kyle, Texas. Mr. Sanders was pronounced dead at the hospital. This is now the sixth fatality in San Marcos this year.
