Tuesday night, the retired assistant chief of the Converse Police Department was killed after his vehicle was struck by a drunk driver. 58-year-old Rodney Rheiner was the passenger in a Lincoln SUV that was hit around 9 p.m. that night. The crash occurred in the 14300 blocks of Nacogdoches rd. Assistant Cheif Rheiner was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he later died.
