Over Half a Million Cars Recalled

Early this week, Volvo issued a recall for over 500,000 of their cars worldwide. The manufacturer said in a statement that parts in some engines may cause the car to catch on fine in extreme cases. The models affected are four-cylinder engines that run on diesel. If you have an S60,  S80, S90, V40, V60, V70, V90, XC60, or an XC90 that is the model year 2014 through 2019 you should see your local Volvo dealer as soon as possible. If you’re not sure if your car is affected or not, you can find out here.

What is Causing the Malfunction?

According to Volvo, the inlet manifold which is found in the engine is made of plastic. Because of this, the part may melt due to extreme temperature changes. In some cases, this will cause the car to catch on fire. So far, there have been no reports of any accidents linked to the defective part.
