Lexus and Toyota Recall Engines

recall

Bad news for the owners of brand new Lexus or Toyota vehicles. Over 44,000 cars and SUVs from the 2019 and 2020 models years are having engine overheating problems. This issue can cause the car to stall, and even catch on fire. The affected vehicles are the 2019-2020 Toyota Camry, Avalon, RAV4 Hybrids, the regular Camry, and RAV4. According to the recall, this is an issue with the vehicle’s engine block during combustion. Due to an error in manufacturing, the engine block can leak coolant or oil. This is what causes some vehicles to stall, or catch fire. Drivers with affected vehicles may notice warning lights and chimes, and increased engine noise and smoke.

In a statement, Toyota claims that only 250 of the 44,191 recalled vehicles actually need a replacement. However, all vehicle owners should take their car to the dealership. Dealers will check the serial numbers on the engine, to determine if this car was a member of the faulty batch. If this is the case, your vehicle’s engine will be replaced, free of charge.

Toyota said that recall is expected to begin on April 6, 2020. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus at 1-800-255-3987. You can click here to see if your vehicle is affected by the recall.
