Honda Portable Generators Recalled for Fire Hazard

Over 340,000 Honda portable generators are being recalled due to a high fire hazard risk. So far over 10 fires have already been reported. The affected models will be listed below. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the generator’s inverter assembly can short circuit with the presence of saltwater. This will cause the unit to smoke or even catch fire. last year, there was a similar recall for over 200,000 units from Honda. However, that recall was due to a gasoline leak. Fuel would leak from the fuel valve and could cause a serious burn and fire hazard. Owners affected by this previous recall are encouraged to participate in this one as well.

If you have any of the affected models, you are urged to stop using them immediately. Consumers should contact a local Honda Power Equipment service deal to schedule a free repair. These generators were sold by Honda Power Equipment Dealers, Home Depot, and other home improvement stores nationwide, in stores and online. These models were sold from February 2018 through January 2020. Models coast somewhere between $1,00 to $1,300.
