In August alone, 51 different people were arrested in Bexar County for felony DWI charges. While this is a lot, it’s fewer arrests than we saw in July. July had a whopping 63 DWI felony charges. These arrests include Driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a child, and intoxicated manslaughter. 9 of the 51 arrests were for driving intoxicated with a child, and two were for intoxicated manslaughter.
How to Prevent Becoming a Victim of a DWI
Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot we can do to stop drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel. However, there are steps we can take to help protect ourselves from them. The first important tip is to always remember to buckle your seatbelt. Your seatbelt has a proven record of protecting drivers in collisions and greatly reduces your chances of getting a serious injury if you end up in an accident. Next, always be sure to keep a safe following distance and be careful around intersections. The extra reaction time you give yourself could prevent you from getting into an accident with a drunk driver.
