One person has died and another is in the hospital following a multiple-car wreck that happened on Monday. Police are looking for the driver of a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer who caused the crash on i-10 east. According to authorities, the truck was traveling too fast, given the traffic conditions, and then crashed into the back of a motorcyclist around 6:30 p.m. Monday night. The motorcyclist who was killed was identified as 64-year-old Kyle Wanye Perry. He passed away at the scene due to blunt force injuries. Three vehicles in front of the motorcyclist were also impacted. This caused a Jeep Cherokee to roll over. The truck, with a flat-bed attached, attempted to brake before impact. This resulted in the vehicle to jack-knife on the highway, and block both eastbound lanes.
The driver then fled on foot. He did not stop to render any aid. Being involved in a hit and run accident can be terrifying. Especially if someone was hurt or even killed. These kinds of incidents happen far too often, and people find themselves not knowing what to do. It’s important to remember, fleeing from an accident is a crime in most states, including Texas. If you have been a victim of a hit and run crash, try to gather as much information about the driver as possible. Do not attempt to stop the driver. This could put your safety at risk. Ask witnesses what they saw, and try and memorize the driver’s license plate, or other things that may reveal the driver’s identity.
