Another company joins in the long list of pharmaceutical manufacturers voluntarily recalling their ranitidine products. Aurobindo Pharma USA is pulling batches of their products over concerns of them containing N-nitrosodimethylamine. N-nitrosodimethylamine or NDMA is a known carcinogen and has been the cause of the makers of Zantac and other heartburn medication manufacturers recalling their products over cancer concerns. This recall was issued on November 6th by the U.S Food and Drug Administration. The products in question were sold or distributed between September 28, 2018, and September 19, 2019. For patients who were prescribed or take Ranitidine tablets should contact their doctor or pharmacist to see about alternative treatments prior to returning their medication. In a statement, the FDA said the following: “Although many of these levels of NDMA observed through FDA testing are much lower than the levels some third-party scientists first claimed, some levels still exceed what the FDA considers acceptable for these medicines.” Always be sure to consult with a medical expert before making a change concerning your medication
